One of the biggest hurdles for travelling as a young adult is the cost. Beyond the price of airfare and accommodations, there are other factors to consider. For example, did you know that your Government of Canada health insurance plan may not fully cover you if you experience a medical emergency outside of your province? Additionally, most healthcare facilities abroad will not accept your domestic health insurance plan.
To protect your health while seeing the world, you may want to consider purchasing a travel insurance policy. A Youth Travel Insurance plan by Allianz Global Assistance is a low-budget option for travellers no older than 29. Our Youth Travel Insurance plan offers emergency medical and trip cancellation protection, and baggage protection.
Here is more about what it may be covered under the Youth Travel Insurance Plan, who it may be most suitable for and how to apply.
Your son is graduating from college, and he plans to backpack around Asia for six months to celebrate his accomplishment. You’re excited, but of course you’re worried. What if he fractures an ankle on a remote hike or contracts a gastrointestinal illness? What if his checked baggage never makes it from Canada to the first leg of his journey, or worse — what if the luggage is stolen? Travel insurance is a great graduation gift for your son that may offer him protection and gives you peace of mind.
The Youth Travel Insurance Plan includes health coverage for emergency situations you may encounter during travel but not at as high a rate as our Comprehensive Plan, which is more ideal for travellers 29 and older.
